Kooks 3" x 2-1/2" stainless X-pipe — the bolt-in race mid-section between Kooks 3" collector long tubes and an OEM-style 2-1/2" exhaust. The X-pipe geometry balances exhaust pulses between cylinder banks, smoothing power delivery and producing the cross-plane sound character that X-pipes are known for. Competition only — no cats; off-road / track use only. Ball-and-socket header connection accommodates thermal expansion without leaks.
Fits 1996-1998 Ford Mustang GT and Cobra with the 4.6L 2V or 4V engine. Requires Kooks long tube headers with 3" collectors. The 2-1/2" outlet connects directly to the OEM exhaust at the factory connection point. This is the right choice for cars keeping a stock-back configuration while running Kooks long tubes.
Kooks Headers & Exhaust has been hand-building stainless headers and exhaust systems in Statesville, North Carolina since 1962. Every mid-section is welded by experienced fabricators in the same shop where the company's NASCAR, NMRA, and Pro Stock racing roots were established. 16 gauge 304 stainless construction shrugs off thermal cycling and salt-belt corrosion.
Clamps are included with the X-pipe. Pair with Kooks 1996-1998 4.6L long tubes upstream and either the OEM cat-back or a Kooks 2-1/2" cat-back downstream. Replacement Torca-style clamps sold separately.
