Choosing the Correct Turbo for your Armageddon Twin Turbo Mustang GT or Boss 302

Dave Rochau: Armageddon Program Director

Armageddon Turbo Systems provides a number of Garrett Turbocharger options with their 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT and Boss 302 Twin Turbo Systems. ALL Armageddon Turbo Systems include premium Ball-Bearing Garrett Turbochargers. Garrett is the best Turbocharger manufacturer in the world. Garrett turbochargers are the choice of OEM suppliers due to their reliability and no-compromise performance. The principle difference between turbocharger options is actually the horsepower they can provide.

GT3076R Turbocharger System -1200 Horsepower Capable

Armageddon turbo

The starting point in our lineup is the Garrett GT3076R. Paired together on the Ford 5.0L Coyote engine these units have been shown to produce 1200 Horsepower with our turbo system. This is the best choice if responsive boost is your priority over ultimate horsepower. 600+ Rear-Wheel Horsepower is typical on stock 2011-2014 Mustang GT and Boss 302 vehicles with this turbo selection at around 5-6 psi (with full exhaust). When ordering your system, select these turbochargers with a set of ID1000 Fuel Injectors and the Armageddon 3” Exhaust for a safe, reliable 650+ Horsepower on your stock motor 2011-2014 Mustang GT or Boss 302.

GTX3076R Turbocharger -1300 Horsepower Capable

If you have serious power in mind, but are still looking for the responsive characteristics of a smaller turbocharger select our GTXGT3075R option. GTX series turbochargers add a billet compressor wheel that has similar performance characteristics to typical GT series turbochargers at low to medium boost (5-15 PSI) but at higher boost levels these turbochargers REALLY start to shine. That simple change to the GTX compressor wheels adds more than 150 Horsepower to the high boost capabilities of this turbocharger. Expect 1300 Horsepower when you push these turbochargers to the limit. You’ll still enjoy more than 600+ Rear-Wheel Horsepower on stock 2011-2014 Mustang GT and Boss 302 vehicles with this turbo selection at around 5-6 psi (with full exhaust). When ordering your system, select these turbochargers with an Armageddon Shortblock (Add Cylinder Supports), a set of ID1300 Fuel Injectors, a Dual Pump Fuel System and an Armageddon 3” Exhaust System for 1200 Rear-Wheel horsepower setup that will dominate all other setups.

GT3582R Turbocharger – 1400 Horsepower Capable

Ready to play with the big boys? The Garrett GT3582R is what you’re looking for! Slightly slower boost response is traded for MASSIVE top-end horsepower with this turbo selection. If you’re using a stock engine you can select these turbochargers and still benefit from cooler Intake Air Temperatures while you prepare to invest in your Armageddon Shortblock (w/Cylinder Sleeves), a set of ID1300 Fuel Injectors, a Triple Pump Fuel System and an Armageddon 3” Exhaust System for a ridiculous 1300+ Rear-Wheel horsepower.

GTX3582R Turbocharger – 1500+ Horsepower Capable

This turbocharger option is for the elite. Selecting the Garrett GTX3582R option means you are building a coyote powered machine that is head-and-shoulders above all others. These turbochargers are the FINEST 1500+ Horsepower capable units on the market today and the performance blows all others off the map. Similar low to medium boost performance as our GT3582R option, the billet GTX aluminum wheel in these turbochargers can push more than 35 Pounds of Boost through your Coyote engine generating more than 1,500 Horsepower! You’ll need some parts out of our catalog to take full advantage of these turbochargers so get an Armageddon Shortblock (check all the boxes), select a Triple Pump Fuel System, a set of ID1300 Fuel Injectors, and an Armageddon 3” Exhaust System and welcome yourself to the feeling of having more horsepower than a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari 458 PUT TOGETHER!

Thanks for reading, hope this helps clear up what turbo to choose for what application. Get out there and live your #turbolife!
